Saving

As a member you can save a minimum of £10 per month by standing order or by payroll deduction. This can be increased at any time, or supplemented by one-off payments.

Under current legislation an individual can save up to a maximum of £5,000, but if you have a partner your joint savings can be as much as £10,000.

Your savings can be easily accessed.

You can always receive a cheque for funds standing to your credit within seven days of your request, and in an emergency sooner.

Of course, there may be restrictions on the amount you can draw from your savings if you are borrowing from the credit union. You must at all times keep in your savings account the equivalent of one-fifth of the outstanding balance of your loan
